Core Values

In Support of Excellence

“Excellence is the result of: caring more than others think is wise, risking more than others think is safe, dreaming more than others  think is practical, and expecting more than others think is possible”.

The English Padagogy Wheel

The Home of the Padagogy Wheel

With the Padagogy Wheel Model, teachers have an at-hand reference that ties apps to specific learning outcomes directly connected to modern pedagogies and theories. They can easily sit with the wheel during lesson planning time to find tools that will best aid their students or use it during class time to extend or deepen learning towards a specific 21st century skill or content area. This connection of theory, practice, and application makes the Padagogy Wheel an invaluable resource that should be on the wall of every classroom”.

Matt Harris, Ed.D. Past Chair of ISTE, EdTech Leader and Teacher

OUR PURPOSE

Allan & Glynis Carrington set up Designing Outcomes as a part time venture while Allan was working at the University of Adelaide. Its purpose was to help teachers and educators to develop more effective curriculum and better teaching practice to empower students to strive for transformational learning outcomes. Since their retirement from full time employment, Designing Outcomes has grown in reach and effectiveness as a consultancy. Allan and Glynis are helping teachers in developing countries use 21st Century learning and teaching methods. This calling has quickly become a full time pursuit including significant travel and teaching opportunities.
Sound Pedagogy

Pedagogy can be defined as the function or work of a teacher. It includes both knowledge and practice, both art and science. We will help those wanting to teach to learn about recognised sound teaching methods. Our podcast episodes, blog posts and online courses will explore such strategies as:

 Blooms Taxonomy and Learning Goals
 Immersive Learning and Social Simulations
 Student-centric Interactive Social Constructivism

Latest Edtech

We are committed to helping teachers find the latest and best technologies to enhance the pedagogy. We are exploring learning design and teaching practice that leads technology decision making and not the other way around based on Low Threshold Approaches (LTA’s):

Mobile Technology Apps for all platforms
Multimedia Simulation Software
Web based open source educational software

Best Practice

The Designing Outcomes Learning Portal is being built to be a community portal for those interested in teaching and learning both formal and informal. To provide ideas, suggestions and professional development resources to help teachers excel at their chosen vocation:

Collaborate on Action Research Projects
Showcase Innovative Examples of Best Practice
Interview and Showcase Educational Leaders

First Language Versions

The First Language Project was inspired by a tweet from an Educational Leader which said

“This connection of theory, practice, and application makes the Padagogy Wheel an invaluable resource that should be on the wall of every classroom”.

Twitter was used to request help from teachers around the world, to translate and share the message.  The response was amazing.

There will be at least 25 different Language Posters published by the end of 2016. Each language has a “Language Champion” who blogs and shares in their first language to help teachers get the most out of the learning model.
